Wild camping is generally not permitted; use designated sites. A single-night bivouac may be tolerated in some areas, but rules vary by Land and nature-protection status.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
Previously, a pasture teaching yard stood on this site, which was demolished in GDR times because it was “too close” to the border.
Today is a great resting place:
two shelter, several table groups, partly covered, trash can and a compost toilet.
Camping is officially not allowed, but nice areas would be available.
Located directly on the premium trail Hochrhöner and with great views.

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
