Largely restricted, especially in the Alps and protected areas; rules vary by province.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
Muthmannsdorf / Lower Austria: Shelter in the marble quarry Engelsberg.
The quarry offers plenty of space for an overnighter.
The cabin is locked, but the porch is a good shelter.
Sculpture symposia take place on the Engelsberg, some of the artists' works remain on the site.
At the quarry there are some climbing routes

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
