Wild camping is generally not permitted; use designated sites. A single-night bivouac may be tolerated in some areas, but rules vary by Land and nature-protection status.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
The "Eichenhütte" - literally Oak Cabin - is a 3 1/2-wall closed shelter without door. It easily hosts 6 people. The cabin is reachable by Gravel-, Trekking- and Mountainbike. Be aware that Autobahn A8 is less than 200m from here, so it may be noisy night. The name does not imply the cabin is made of oaken wood, indeed it is derived from the nearby "Krumme Eiche", the crooked oak tree.

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
