Wild camping is generally not permitted; use designated sites. A single-night bivouac may be tolerated in some areas, but rules vary by Land and nature-protection status.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
This trekking site of the Nature Conservation Foundation is located in a small forest in the municipality of St. Michaelisdonn (Dithmarschen). It offers a view of the Kleve nature reserve with the so-called Spiekerberg. The Spiekerberg is an impressive witness of the times – it is the former edge of the North Sea (Kleve = cliff). When the heath is in bloom, this mountain is particularly beautiful in the middle of the rather flat landscape. There are hiking trails through the nature reserve.
At the trekking site itself there is one thing: nature. Seating, trash cans, water or sanitary facilities are not available. The trekking site is located in the FFH area, fire is not allowed.

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
