Wild camping is generally not permitted; use designated sites. A single-night bivouac may be tolerated in some areas, but rules vary by Land and nature-protection status.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
This trekking site is offered by the Foundation Naturschutz Schleswig-Holstein. The course is located in the middle of the foundation country Schäferhaus (Schleswig-Flensburg district), a former military training ground. At this trekking site, the tent can be pitched near the sculpture next to the famous “Ochsenweg”, a historical country road.
The trekking area is not to be missed due to the wooden sculpture standing there, which represents two symbolic ox horns.
NOTE (Jun2024): This trekkingplace is not open due to ants. 700m further through the meadows is a pilgrim's hut, which can be used for overnight instead.

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
