Wild camping is generally not permitted; use designated sites. A single-night bivouac may be tolerated in some areas, but rules vary by Land and nature-protection status.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
In the Elbsandsteingebirge (on the left side of the Elbe) Sachsenforst provides selected resting places from April to October as bivouac places for hikers on the forest trail. On the bivouac pitches, within a radius of 20 m, the overnight stay in up to 5 two-person mountain tents is permitted between 4 and 10 a. m. each for only one night after paying a maintenance fee (5,- €) by stamping trekking tickets.
The general information for forest overnight stays, the bivouac code, the equipment as well as the conditions of use must be observed when using.

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
