Wild camping is generally not permitted; use designated sites. A single-night bivouac may be tolerated in some areas, but rules vary by Land and nature-protection status.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
Two spots to legally make a fire. One to the north and the other in the south, close to the hut. This is a children's playground so expect to be annoyed during the day.
If you are through hiking this is the last place where you may sleep in the hut before you enter the Nature Preserve to the west (Schwarzwildpark / Bärensee) or the Palace to the North West.
You can get drinking water from the "Sophien Brunnen" a few hundred meters to the east. The water is turned on from late Spring till Autumn. No water during winter!

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
