Wild-camping rules vary by area and aren't confirmed for this country — always check local regulations and get landowner permission where needed.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
It has 6 places.
You can get to the Portella Hut by car to Soldeu.
From here you have to continue on foot through els Fontanals.
There is also the option of going by car to Pas de la Casa and once at Port d’Envalira continuing on foot to the Pic de Maià.
From these 2 points (Fontanals and Pic de Maià) you continue climbing to Port Dret, following the Sant Josep river to the hut.
This is a time of around 3 hours and 450 - 750 metres (depending on the chosen route). The hut is not guarded and is open all year, but it is usually maintained in the summer months (cleaning, firewood, first aid kits...). It has a fireplace and there is a spring alongside the hut.
It is at an altitude of 2,265 metres and was opened in 1981.
There is also a signal for mobile phones (also with the French networks). The walk is easy.

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
