Wild camping is generally not permitted; use designated sites. A single-night bivouac may be tolerated in some areas, but rules vary by Land and nature-protection status.
Informational only — always check current local rules and get landowner permission where needed.
This open shelter is conveniently located directly along the Vennbahn, making it a great spot for cyclists and hikers to take a break. The sturdy wooden benches and table under a solid roof provide a comfortable place to rest, and the shelter is particularly well-suited for hanging a hammock under the roof structure for overnight stay.
However, this shelter is open on all sides, which means that while it provides good cover in calm weather, it is not recommended during heavy rain with strong winds, as it won't offer much protection. The surrounding greenery adds to the serene atmosphere, making it a peaceful spot to relax.
This shelter is ideal for short breaks rather than overnight stays, especially in bad weather conditions. It’s a convenient and scenic spot for those passing through on the Vennbahn trail.

A major milestone: we've rebuilt Camp Wild from the ground up.
The whole site is now faster, lighter on mobile data, and works smoothly even on a weak signal out in the wild.
- The map loads thousands of spots without slowing down.
- Pages open instantly and use far less data.
- Every spot now has its own link, so sharing a place is easy.
- Map markers no longer duplicate or get stuck while panning and zooming.
- Coordinates read from a photo are now accurate, with a clear message when a photo has no location data.
- Sign-in, comments, and reports are more reliable.
We're continuing to polish the new experience. Spotted something off? Use the Report button on any spot — thank you for helping keep the map accurate.
